Pre-Party Skin Prep: Get Glow-Ready in 5 Steps
The secret to makeup that looks effortless isn't just the makeup itself — it's what you do to your skin beforehand. Here's our go-to prep routine.

The most flawless makeup looks always start before the makeup itself goes on. A little skin prep in the days and hours before your appointment makes a noticeable difference in how your makeup applies and how long it lasts.
1. Hydrate for a Few Days, Not Just the Day Of
Well-hydrated skin holds makeup better and looks smoother in photos. Start upping your water intake and using a hydrating moisturiser two to three days before your event, not just the morning of.
2. Gentle Exfoliation, 24–48 Hours Before
A light exfoliation removes flaky, dry patches so foundation applies smoothly. Avoid exfoliating the same day — freshly exfoliated skin can be more sensitive and reactive to product.
3. Don't Skip Sunscreen
Sun damage and uneven tone make more work for makeup to cover. Daily SPF in the lead-up to your event keeps your base as even as possible.
4. Prime with a Lightweight Moisturiser
On the day, use a lightweight, non-greasy moisturiser about 20–30 minutes before your makeup application so it has time to absorb fully.
5. Come In With a Clean Face
Arrive with clean, product-free skin. We'll handle the rest — cleansing, priming, and prepping your skin as part of your session so the makeup has the best possible canvas to work with.
Follow these steps and you'll notice the difference the moment your makeup goes on — smoother application, better wear, and a natural glow underneath it all.
